Description

The flute music of Francisco Mignone is a repertoire still under-explored by flute players. These works contain a huge variety of styles, forms, and genres, from the most elaborate and profound music to the lighter and more graceful vignettes. His writing is idiomatic for the flute and includes great romantic virtuoso passages combined with elements of Brazilian popular music.

These works are representative of Mignone’s output as a whole, containing as they do pieces in the various styles that mark Mignone’s aesthetical progress: popular Brazilian music, European and neoclassical tendencies, nationalistic music, and lush twelve-tone and serial ideas. Additionally, some of the works are presented here with a version of the piano part transcribed for guitar in an attempt to amplify performance opportunities.
