Description
Description
Francesco Maria Veracini’s 12 Sonatas for flute (or recorder) and basso continuo, published posthumously, were written for the court of Augustus III of Poland as an injection of Venetian culture. Unpublished in the composer’s lifetime, the sonatas are now easily available and serve as a highlight of the delicate Venetian baroque style.
Each sonata opens with a largo or adagio movement that establishes themes and moods, though the latter three movements vary more wildly, with dances and arias interspersed throughout.
In this volume:
- Sonata No. 7 in c minor
- Sonata No. 8 in F Major
- Sonata No. 9 in g minor
