Wings: A Collage

Description

In a flurry of whimsy and good humour, Salvage presents this two movement solo dedicated to Metropolitan opera piccoloist Mary Ann Archer. ‘Songbirds and Seraphim’ is derived from the hym ‘Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silent’ and snatches of ‘The Lark Ascending’ while ‘Birds, Bees, and Bats’ humorously stitches together Prokofiev, Rimsky-Korsakov, Vivaldi, and Strauss.
