Description
Description
Ginette Keller, student of Nadia Boulanger and Olivier Messiaen and prolific French composer, presents her Chant de Parthenope for flute and piano.
The Chant, in construction, is much like Bozza or Jolivet conservatoire pieces; a lent introduction with strange harmonies and open fantasia-qualities gives way to a mixed-meter scherzando, with a final, reflective calme lent coda. Harmonically, it explores similar territory to Jolivet, and the dark, swirling harmonies and multi-voiced textures (all distinctly French) make this an enticing serious recital piece.
For advanced players.
