Description

David Philip Hefti’s 12 Fantasies for solo flute were composed in 2015 as commentaries, addenda and counterparts to the 12 Fantasies by Georg Philipp Telemann. For this reason, reminiscences of motives from Telemann’s repeatedly flare up, transformed into Hefti’s own musical language to a point where they are no longer recognizable.

The 12 Fantasies may be performed either as a stand-along work, or individually, though they may also be performed in alternation with Telemann’s Fantasies, thereby enabling the listener to perceive both types of music in a new light.
