Description

This collection of twenty-five studies for the flute is aimed at pupils beginning their third year of learning the instrument. Apart from being a logical follow-up to the work of the two preceding years, its particularity consists in dealing with, in each of the given pieces and in a highly precise manner, the many pedagogical points that have to be tackled during the period of tuition. A piece will consequently deal specifically with one or two musical elements, and will be preceded by a preparatory exercise that should facilitate performance. The last five studies are exceptional as they recapitulate all the techniques thus far learned. The pupil will also find in this volume examples of various styles, from the baroque to the romanticism of Brahms and Grieg, together with folk music and so-called ‘contemporary’ language.
