Description
Description
Sigfrid Karg-Elert (1877-1933) was a German composer of considerable fame in the early 20th century. He studied music at the Leipzig Conservatory, where he became a staff member in 1919. His real name was Karg, the Elert having been added early in his career at the suggestion of his concert-agent. Karg-Elert’s works enjoyed reasonable popularity in the United States but his performance skills were less admired, and his single tour of the United States in the early 1930s was not well-received.
