4 Esquisses

Description

Hugo Pfister presents the 4 Esquisses for flute alone.

Each of these small pieces can be played individually or as a set, as each is a miniature musical scene in its own regard. The first, Cortege, is a delicate dance with a more driving rhythmic finale. The second, Mouvement d’une feuille, is a rubato fantasia with long, extended phrases. The third, Plainte passionnee, tongue-in-cheek play piece, and the fourth, Danse des flammes, is a vivace moto perpetuo, almost an impressionist waltz.
