Description
Description
Edward Jacobs’ Amuse-bouche, for solo flute, was written in 2015 to serve as a brief program opener. The particular occasion lent itself to exploration of a few of the flute’s extended techniques – jet whistle, slap-tongue, tongue stop (ram), flutter-tongue in several guises – and one hears these sounds used as thematic elements within this vignette.
Perhaps this aural amuse-bouche might awaken the ear’s hearing buds to the flute’s colors, ready for the remainder of a recital’s offerings.
For advanced players.
