Archipielagos

Description

Efrain Amaya’s Archipielagos, for flute and piano, is a virtuosic showpiece with four movements, all named after different archipelagos of Venezuela. Each movement contains quite individual characters – the first movement includes plucked piano strings to mimic the birds of Las Aves, the fourth movement afro-venezuelan to reflect the makeup of Los Roques – though there is a subtle quotation of the Venezuelan national anthem running through the carefree, upbeat whole of Archipielagos.
