Badinerie Squared

Description

In celebration of 10 years of performing, Dolce Suono Ensemble and founder Mimi Stillman commissioned eight composers for new works based on J.S. Bach themes. James Primosch chose to quote the Orchestral Suite in B Minor for his Badinerie Squared.

The piece, for two flutes, begins as the Bach Badinerie, but very quickly takes a turn for the saucy as the flutes slip in and out of 5/8 rhythms and syncopated permutations of the initial theme.
