Ballade Transcendantale

Description

Yanet Puech presents Ballade Transcendantale for flute and piano.

In the style of the great Conservatoire competition pieces, the Ballade begins with an impressionistic cadenza in the flute punctuated by the piano’s small but grand statements. As the introduction develops into melodic material the two instruments grow gradually more intertwined until the central dance moment, full of agile flute and clever shifting time signatures. The piece ends with a return to the opening cadenza material and a final, quietly dark reflection.
