Blackbirds

Description

Gregory Youtz’s Blackbirds, for flute and bassoon, is a musical response to the poem ‘Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird’. Each poem can be read before each of the small 13 movements of the piece. As the poem provides many ways of looking at a blackbird, so do the short musical pieces provide multiple ways of thinking about the combination of flute and bassoon sonorities.
