Blue Shadows

Description

Barbara Jazwinski’s Blue Shadows, for flute, Bb clarinet, and piano, is a virtuosic single-movement meld of modern classical and jazz. Thick chords in the piano underscore and enhance the flute and clarinet’s melodies that are, by turns, lighter, darker, and racing out and away. Several contrasting sections enhance the drama running throughout the piece, and it ends with a quiet clarinet meditation.
