Breathless

Description

Hubert Howe’s Breathless, for flute and Bb clarinet, was written as a challenge to flutists and clarinettists. It requites that they play expressively over the entire range of notes that they can play – the piece calls for a High C7 and C#7 on the flute. The title refers, in jest, to the fact that except for one passage for solo clarinet both instruments are playing continuously.
