Description

Francesco Pennisi’s richly written Carteggio is a cycle of pieces for flute (doubling piccolo and alto flute), cello, and piano or harpsichord. Highly stylized Italian contemporary writing is paired with Pennisi’s sketches and images, and each piece from the cycle rotates instruments to richen the tone palettes – opening the cycle with piccolo and piano, closing with the swelling meld of alto flute and cello.
