Description
Description
Imagine a scene of moving water, bird calls, fluttering wings. The expression of the music should be fluid, smooth as water, with the trills, tremolos and flutter tonguing suggesting the sounds and movements of the birds. Originally a flute duet under the title Last Cry of the Wild Herons, in 2008 Ayers added a computer music soundscape and changed the title to reflect the fact that most wild herons aren’t critically endangered yet, though if global warming continues unabated, perhaps all birds will be endangered after all. The flute parts include fluttery extended techniques and the recorded soundscape includes sampled herons along with synthesized herons, flutes and voices that morph together.
